About Me

Welcome! Please explore the site to find complete information on all my services. In brief, I am a Registered Massage Therapist, practicing since 2001, and have been providing prenatal and postpartum massage since that time. My interest in pregnancy massage began during my RMT training at an outreach at BC Women's Hospital in the antepartum ward treating women with high risk pregnancies (who were on bed rest and having their babies monitored). I enjoyed talking with the women and found it easy to get caught up in their excitement and expectation. I now offer features specific to the perinatal period, including pregnancy cushions to comfortably lie face down, pregnancy safe aromatherapy, as well as services such as labour support massage lessons for dads, postpartum home visits, and infant massage lessons. Aurora Massage Therapy Clinic, where my practice is based, is modern, clean, warm and inviting. Many clients say their relaxation starts as soon as they walk through the door! My massages aim to meet your needs, and can be very different for each person or even from one massage to the next depending on your needs that day. From therapeutic relief of physical aches and pains, to advice on safe and effective exercises and stretches, to a pampering relaxation massage, my goal is to provide you with the support you need to comfortably experience your transition into motherhood.

I also have two boys of my own, Xander and Tavin, who were born February 2004 and May 2006 respectively. Both were beautiful home water births and have further inspired my work. My wife, Kirsten, has been immensely supportive as well. She has experience as a nurse in both labour and delivery and the special care nursery and is now a stay at home mother studying to be a midwife, childbirth educator, and lactation consultant, as well as being the Chapter Director for ICAN Canada (International Cesarean Awareness Network). We are both committed to principles of natural health, and we are thrilled to be learning more from our boys.

I look forward to answering any questions by phone or in person, and supporting you in your pregnancy and beyond!

Testimonials

"Nicholas Crooks is more than an RMT. His knowledge around pregnancy, childbirth and infants sets him apart in his field. I met Nicholas as a new mom and he was a big part of my learning to trust my instincts and connect with my baby. Now in my second pregnancy, I look forward to my regular treatments. I always leave feeling balanced and relaxed."

Melanie Osmack

Pre and Postnatal Fitness Instructor and Owner of Fit 4 Two

"I recommend Nicholas to my prenatal yoga students. Massage therapy is an integral part of holistic prenatal care. Nick has a vast amount of knowledge, experience and specialized training. Pregnant women go to him with their aches and pains and the common complaints of pregnancy and they feel so much relief following a treatment. I go see Nick for relaxation massage...a little taste of heaven and a welcome escape from the demands of everyday life."

Lesley Crowe

Director and Certified Yoga Teacher, Serene in the City Yoga

"Nick Crooks has been working with the fathers in my prenatal classes for over four years now. As a massage therapist, trained birth doula and father himself, he has been able to bring his life experience as well as professional experience into the classroom. Nick brings lively conversation, massage suggestions that apply directly to birth and anecdotes from his other job as a father of two. All together Nick has created a class for fathers that is a great success."

Nikiah Seeds

Childbirth Educator, Birthing From Within.

"Nicholas' massage therapy was fantastic before, during and after my pregnancy. He relieved my shoulder tension from spending hours at the computer and eased my lower back pain from the pregnancy. His home visits were perfect after I had my baby as I continued to get my massages and I didn't have to worry about getting a babysitter."
